A brutalist church becomes a living system — one that reacts back.

Project

Presented during Museumsnacht Köln 2024, Interference transformed the brutalist church of St. Johannes XXIII into a unified immersive environment. In collaboration with spatial designer Ruben Tsangaris, Studio.absTime created three interconnected works across distinct spaces within the building.

Interference — central view

The installation unfolds across three spatial layers — from individual control to collective interaction and performative dialogue.

For one evening, the space became a reflection of its audience — constantly transformed through collective movement.
